Elderly Advocacy and Support
ELDERLY PROGRAM – OVERTOWN
The Overtown Elderly Services Program provides social services to persons age 60 and over who reside in Overtown. The goals of the program are to assist elders in maintaining their independence in their community; to provide caregivers with assistance and relief in order to continue providing care; and to improve the nutritional status of the elderly. The services that are provided to the elderly include:
  • Assessments and referrals to community resources
  • Service plans for short-term and long-term goals
  • Case management
  • Homemaker services for the frailest of elderly clients
The program is funded by the Miami-Dade County Alliance for Human Services.
 
ELDERLY PROGRAM – MIAMI BEACH

We offer seniors, age 60 and older and their caregiver’s, services to enhance the quality of their lives, which provide them with the support and security to live independently. Our social worker will make a home visit and an assessment will be administered to evaluate services to be provided. The services consist of:

  • Homemaker services
  • Gerentological counseling
  • Caregiver training and support
  • Acess to information and referrals
Our services are provided at the senior’s home or community setting.

We provide caregiver training and support workshops in different senior buildings throughout the Miami Beach area. These workshops are presented by professionals and cover different topics to build awareness and provide greater information and knowledge.

We are able to do this through a grant provided by the Alliance for Aging, are agency for Miami-Dade and Monroe.

In order to receive services you must be age 60 and over.

2. Do I need Medicaid in order to receive services?
 
Medicaid coverage is not a prerequisite.  The Elderly Services Program for Miami Beach is funded by The Alliance for Aging.  The Elderly Services Program for Overtown is funded by The Alliance for Human Services

No, all services are free of cost.
