My Payee Received A Large Check For My Past Benefits. How Should That Money Be Spent? |
| |
| Sometimes it takes a while for benefits to be processed. Social Security may send a lump sum of benefits in back payments. In that case, your Payee must spend the money on rent and a security deposit, food, and/or furnishings. The rest of the money can be used to pay medical expenses, education, and debts. |

How many children are in each group? Is there the possibility that my child will be left out because she/he is shy? |
| |
| Each group is made up of no more than 15 children. Being shy is not a reason to be left out at our centers. We view this as an opportunity to work with the child and the family members through our social skills program. Furthermore, we encourage family involvement to assist in bringing out the unique qualities of each child. |

|
How does the counselor teach the topics? |
| |
| The counselor provides handouts with the topics, discussion ensues, and the group engages in activities for the day. They review the information together and the counselor uses examples to illustrate and make the topics clearer. In this manner, the girls are encouraged to relate to their personal life and share their experiences with the group. |

|
Does the program have to be carried out in group format? |
| |
| Not necessarily. The counselor provides group and individual therapy to the clients. Some girls feel more comfortable when they realize other girls of the same age have similar problems. Group format then becomes an indirect way to encourage them to share their experiences and become more open to learn and share. If one of the girls wishes to talk to the counselor individually, the counselor will provide the appropriate services. |

|
Will my parents know what I said to the counselor? |
| |
| No. There is a confidentiality agreement between the counselor and the client when the girl is enrolled in the Girls Reach High program. Information will be shared with parents only if the counselor finds that the information or situation learned may become dangerous or harmful to the client or to others. |
